Abstract

Whenever running a business, employees will become the main areas of focus. Especially, as a graduate of business administration, we have to be aware of everything that’s going on the employees starting from recruitment of a new employee up to making that employee equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills in order to achieve organizational goals. The fast growing technological need of customers in the telecom sector and globalization need an effective Human Resource Management in a company. Hence, this research is conducted to assess Human Resource Management practice and problems in Ethio-telecom aiming to assess recruitment and selection, training and development, promotion and transfer, performance evaluation practices and the major challenges. The research based its data from questionnaire and interview and used a descriptive analysis method to analyze the data in order to reach a conclusion. Nevertheless, the research findings implicate that Ethio-telecom has a good Human Resource Management practice, it also has found some minor problems regarding performance evaluation practice. Finally, recommendations are given based on the findings.
