Abstract

Background: Improving health service Coverage and realizing the right to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health is Dependent on their availability, accessibility, acceptability, and quality of health care Professionals Objective: the aim of this study is to identify the level of job satisfaction and associated factors among health workers at Adama hospital medical college in Adama city, Adama special zone, Oromia region, Ethiopia, 2024 Methods: An Institutional based cross-sectional study was conducted on AHMC health workers using a structured questionnaire and random sampling. Data was analyzed using frequency, percentage, bivariate, and multivariate methods to identify factors affecting job satisfaction among health workers, with a 95% CI and P-value of 0.05 as the cut-off point. Result: The study involved 403 health workers, with 209 males and 194 females. Results showed that 74 (18.4%) participants were satisfied and 329(81.6%) were dissatisfied with socio-demographic variables, 200(49.6%) were satisfied and 200(50.4%) were dissatisfied with working environment variables and 133(33.0%) were satisfied and 270(67.0%) were dissatisfied with organizational variables, that resulted 170(42.2%) study participants were satisfied and 233(57.8%) were not satisfied with their current job. age, marital status, and years of service were significantly associated with overall job satisfaction at P-values of 0.015, 0.013, and 0.029, with Adjusted Odds Ratios (AOR) of 2.329 (95% CI 1.182, 3.132), 0.560 (95% CI 0.354, 0.885), and 0.437 (95% CI 0.208, 0.919) respectively. Conclusion and recommendation: six out of ten AHMC Health Workers were dissatisfied with their current job. So, policy makers and health service managers of the RHB, especial zone health office, Health facilities and Administrators at all levels have to pay special attention to improve AHMC Health Workers on job satisfactions by creating regular supervision and provide professional feedback and strategy that can motivate health workers, prepare experience sharing program for younger, not married and more experienced Work plan and budget; the study was conducted from April 1 to 30, 2024 and a total budget of 11,935 Birr will be required to conduct this study
